The Bedford SB3 Bus
The SB was built for the UK market and export. By 1980, over 54,000 had been produced, 38,000 being for overseas operators. Production ceased after 36 years in December 1986.
The Army, RAF and Royal Navy, plus several other government departments took large numbers of them. The Armed Forces version was more austere than civilian versions and capable of being converted to ambulances in times of emergency.
I'm guessing that most people reading this will have at some point travelled in a Bedford bus, especially since they were commonly used for school transport. Freezing cold in the winter and too hot in the summer.
The 1970s
I decided to set up eight tables in the middle of the WBS front field, showcasing items from that era. You might recognise many of them! The skateboard actually had metal wheels.
